Platts Files Nominating Petitions for Re-election Effort
More Than 4,800 Citizens Help to Place Congressman's Name on Ballot

Congressman Todd Platts (PA-19) officially kicked off his campaign for re-election with the filing of his nomination petitions in Harrisburg Tuesday.  While a minimum of 1,000 signatures of registered Republican voters were required to place his name on the Primary Election ballot, Congressman Platts and his team of supporters gathered nearly five times this number.  Approximately 220 People for Platts volunteers gathered more than 4,800 signatures throughout the 19th District counties of Adams, Cumberland and York.

"I am deeply grateful for the trust that the citizens of the 19th Congressional District have placed in me.  I am honored to now seek re-election to Congress," Platts said.

"I pledge to once again run a positive, grassroots campaign focused on the critical issues facing our great Nation, such as creating jobs and restoring our economy to full strength, health care and supporting our military.  The door-to-door efforts of approximately 220 petition circulators and the signatures of more than 4,800 citizens exemplify the grassroots campaign that my supporters and I will conduct throughout this election," Platts added.

Platts has never accepted special interest contributions from political action committees (PACs).  Platts raises campaign funds from personal contributions only and depends on volunteers to help spread his message, enlisting them to campaign door-to-door throughout the 19th Congressional District.

The Pennsylvania Primary Election is scheduled for Tuesday, May 18, 2010.
